Day 85

Me and Jennah with Dr. Frances Kinne!!

We got to hear Dr. Kinne speak tonight, and it was great!! She is a past president of Jacksonville University, the first female president of a university in the U.S!! She was a professor here before she became president in the humanities division. While she was president she brought all sorts of celebrities to campus such as Bob Hope and Jack Benny, Winston Churchill III, President Gerald Ford, the Yankees (they played our team!), Charlton Heston, Bruce Springsteen and the Doobie Brothers!
She jump started the fine arts program, the aviation program, and the college of business. She loved all her students, and as president she decided she would know them all by name (whether it was their first or last name) and she did, all 4,000! She never missed a basketball, or baseball game. There was no football team then or she would have gone to those as well.
She is such a neat lady, a go-getter, and a true optimist. She told us that every morning when she wakes up she says "This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it", and she looks in the mirror and laughs at her messy hair and lipstickless lips :)
She is quite the inspiration! It was so neat being able to meet her, and talking to her personally afterward for almost half and hour!
