Day 18

Laundry Day!
I have quite the collection of socks, but this is a good thing since I have to wear them everyday until my feet heal. So for Christmas, I got tons of socks, every color, design, and pattern you could think of :) I think I washed 14 pairs today!

Day 17

Yesterday I bought myself two new pairs of shoes! And it made my whole day!! This pair was only $3.50 :)

"Hey, I put some new shoes on,
And suddenly everything is right,
I said, hey, I put some new shoes on and everybody's smiling,
It's so inviting,
Oh, short on money,
But long on time,
Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine,
And I'm running late,
And I don't need an excuse,
'cause I'm wearing my brand new shoes."

Day 15

Arthur Edwin Schreck "Grandpa"
August 4, 1929- January 28, 2010

My grandpa ended his long battle with cancer today and is singing and rejoicing with our Lord and His Savior today with the angels in Heaven :) I will miss him, but I am confident that he is finally home! His life is a testimony for his Savior, and I am proud to be called his grand-daughter!! The last things he told me this past Sunday were to keep getting good grades, and doing well in school, because he was proud of me...Here's to you Grandpa! I love you!

My Aunt Debbie said this today on her facebook and it is perfect:
"My dear Father-in-law took his final trip today. He loved to travel and he was looking forward to this trip. He said that he had his passport and his visa stamped and he was ready to go - destination: Heaven! What an amazing testimony of faith. We are rejoicing in the hope that only salvation in Jesus Christ can give even though it is with many tears. We will see him again when we take our final journey."

Day 14

An apple a day keeps the doctor away...right?

Day 13

It was beautiful outside today, and I feel like I actually had a productive day! My chemistry lab was canceled, so my whole afternoon was free. I opened my window in my dorm to let the fresh breeze in, put on some classical music, and worked on chemistry all afternoon. Turned out to be a pretty good day :)

Day 12

My at home pharmacy! Some days I feel like I am falling apart! This past week I've been taking care of an eye infection, bad blisters on my feet from where medication was put on them, still taking care of mono, ahhh it's crazy!! I'm just praying that God will let me get healthy soon!

Day 11

My fish Tatame!

The only productive thing I've done all day was to clean his bowl, so I figured that I should use him as my picture of the day. Two of my best friends from high school, Melissa and Cassie gave me this fish for my 19th birthday this past summer and he has been a great little companion at school!
Many people wonder at his name, and here is the story behind it. In Winter Park, there is a little asian themed tea and sake lounge near Rollins College called Tatame where we go to get their specialty bubble tea (cold tea with tapioca balls on the bottom that you drink with really big straws to fit the tapioca through). Cassie and Melissa took me to Tatame's on my birthday and so that is how my fish got his name. It was going to be that or Tamale (since he is red :) )

Day 10

Dinner and a movie with my boy last night!

Day 9

Jacksonville University Boat Dock at night
We are across the St. John's River from downtown Jacksonville, and the lights of the industrial plants shine throughout the night. I find that these lights can be really beautiful even though they are coming from a place that most people would think is not so pretty. I think we should find beauty in even the little things that bring us joy...it will make life more enjoyable.
-------------------------------------
The next few days (or weeks maybe) will be difficult for my family, especially my mom, because my grandpa is coming to the end of his long fought battle with leukemia and his life. It will be hard to lose him, but I will try my hardest to rejoice in the life he had, and the everlasting life he will soon have with his Lord! My grandpa is a special man who loved his wife, his children, grandchildren, and trains! He traveled the world, and is an inspiration to his family. I am lucky to be attending the university I am because of him, and I will also be grateful for that. I love you Grandpa Schreck!

Day 8

Jennah and me in a puddle!

Today I was literally soaked to the bone! It's January and we had tornado, severe thunderstorm, and flood warnings in Jacksonville. And yes, once again, some of our campus did flood since we are right by the river. Not as bad as a few days last semester, but it was enough rain that all I wanted to do was stay in my bed and read. Instead I was tromping around in my rain jacket, that didn't even really keep me that dry.
Note to self: buy some rainboots!!

On another note, today I got my H1N1 shot for free on campus! Yay for healthy bodies, still working on getting mine back to being completely healthy...

Day 7

Reformed University Fellowship and BCM
U.N.I.T.E.
This semester has been really exciting for me because RUF has joined with BCM for our large group on Wednesday nights and it's been a great thing. Our worship has been great, with a band of 6 people every week. Tommy (RUF) and Lance (BCM) are talking every other week about the person and work of Jesus. Tommy is focusing on the miracles of Christ, and Lance is talking about the parables of Jesus.
I helped start R.U.F. here on JU last year, and we started with a once a week bible study that had anywhere from 3-5 people. This year we have two different bible studies during the week and have been able to utilize the chapel on campus with this large group which on any given week has 20-30 people!
It's pretty amazing to see the growth in just one year, and how God is working on this campus in Jacksonville. I'm excited to see how it grows throughout my next two years here at JU!!!

Day 6

My life for the next semester!!
(I figure I am catching up on the days I missed by posting two pictures!)

Monday, January 18, 2010

Day 5

Today I caught my little brother, Eli, in the backyard doing his daily juggling of the soccer ball. He is 17, and a junior in high school who already has lots of schools looking at him for college soccer. I'm really excited to see where his ability, and God-given talent will take him in the next few years! This summer he was asked to join the Orlando Kraze--a semi pro team in the Orlando area!!

Day 4

Today while I was working on homework in the back room of my house, it was so windy I could hear this chime clearly. It's one of my favorite wind chimes.
I went outside to get this picture and decided to throw some sticks with our border collie, so forgive me again, but I am posting a second picture today!! Boo Radleigh...I love her focused and determined eyes in this picture as I hold a stick above her about to throw it.

Day 3

Today was the 33rd annual Scottish Highland Games in Central Florida, and since I am home this weekend, I got to go! I could not choose which photo to use as my photo of the day, so there are two. The first was just too cute. This little guy was a part of the large pipe and drum band that played for the

opening ceremony. His cheeks sure where red after he was done!

The second is from the border collie demonstration (reminded me of Babe!)

Having been to Scotland just seven months ago, this was really fun to experience--bringing back lots of fun memories!

Friday, January 15, 2010

Day 2

My new favorite snack! I can't really have ice cream at school due to my freezer being so small, so I've resorted to the all-time favorite-movie time-quick and easy-low cal-snack- popcorn!

P.S. Don't get me wrong...my favorite snack will always and forever to infinity and beyond be ice cream, but popcorn makes a close second :)

Day 1.5

Jacksonville Sunset

I decided to post two pictures for today because I'm a little behind, plus, these clouds were too beautiful not to capture!

Day 1

Day 1: I begin my journey through images for the year 2010 with a picture of some of my beautiful orange lilies from Michael. Every time I look at them, I smile. I love flowers, particularly lilies :)

Project 365

My friend Sarah here at JU gave me a great idea last night. Take one picture every day for a year! Project 365. Well I'll be starting about two weeks late, but I think I'm going to try it out. It will make for an awesome photo album when the year is done.

So keep your eye out for a picture a day!

Tolkien Baby Names for Boys and Girls: Tolkien Baby Names for Boys and Girls

So I decided to look up names for the fun of it. I'm bored and don't feel like doing any school work. I was surprised to see my name, Abigail in the top ten of most popular girls name in 2008. I had no idea it was becoming more and more popular! As I was on this site with all the names, this article pops up:
Tolkien Baby Names for Boys and Girls: Tolkien Baby Names for Boys and Girls

How perfect! My father would love this :)
I must admit I always like the name Eowyn, I think it's pretty.

Baby, it's cold outside!

The past few days here in Jacksonville have been so cold! They say it might snow tomorrow! That would be pretty crazy, only flurries, but still, I've never seen anything like that in Florida. Today it's been raining and misting all day--very cold, and not fun. Luckily I'm done with classes for the day, and can stay inside the rest of the day if I felt like it :)

So far, all my classes are fine. Two of them are just part 2 of classes I took in the fall, so I know what sorts of things to expect. The third one I'm taking should be very interesting. It's called Intro to Molecular, Genetic, and Cellular Biology. All stuff I will need to know for medicine, which is exciting to me. Especially since last semester I was stuck learning about plants...ugh. I'm looking forward to what this class has to offer me.

Happy New Year!

Well, its 2010. Wow! It seems pretty crazy since whenever I think of a year in the 90's, I assume it was that far away, now it's at least ten years old! This year I will turn 20, and no longer be a teenager, that's also crazy to me. Let's hope this year brings good things!

I'm looking forward to getting back into a routine at school with classes and friends, and being on my own again. I enjoyed my time relaxing at home, but I'm ready to be back in Jax I think.

Bring on 2010! :)
